DevOps methodology

Beyond the tools: understand DevOps culture, value streams and the metrics that matter. To durably transform your teams' practice.

Who is it for?

Technical decision-makers (CTO, leads, managers), product owners, dev and ops teams who want to move beyond “DevOps = Jenkins + Docker” and adopt a true continuous delivery culture.

Prerequisites

No strict technical prerequisite. Minimal experience of the software development cycle (commit → release) is helpful.

Objectives

By the end of the training, you will be able to:

  • Identify the real sources of slowness in your delivery flow
  • Measure delivery performance with DORA metrics
  • Adopt GitOps practices and the associated organisation
  • Build a realistic transformation plan, step by step
  • Avoid the classic pitfalls (DevOps team, tools without culture, etc.)

Programme

Day 1 — Culture, flow and metrics

  • DevOps origins and principles (Lean, Theory of Constraints, CALMS)
  • Value Stream Mapping
  • The 4 DORA metrics: lead time, deployment frequency, MTTR, change failure rate
  • Case studies: successful and failed transformations
  • Workshop: map your team’s delivery flow

Day 2 — Practices and organisation

  • GitOps: principles, tools, use cases
  • Continuous delivery vs deployment, feature flags
  • Observability and blameless post-mortem culture
  • Team organisation: platform team, stream-aligned, enabling
  • Workshop: build your 6-month DevOps roadmap

Teaching method

Mixed approach: short theoretical inputs, real-world case studies, breakout workshops. A lot of exchange with the trainer, who shares 10 years of field experience in large-scale cloud operations.
